Become a Food Revolutionary!
Well, learning how to cook from scratch is one of the most valuable skills a child can ever learn. These skills used to be passed down from generation to generation, but now millions of people lack even the most basic cooking skills because of their reliance on unhealthy convenience foods. It now costs millions of lives and billions of pounds to cope with the increase in diet-related diseases. But this is preventable.
Jamie Oliver believe that every child should understand where food comes from, how to cook it, and how it affects their bodies. And I agree.
Learning basic cooking skills at an early age is just as important in the western world as learning to read and write. We need to get back to basics: to cook and eat fresh local produce and to share cooking skills and food knowledge. Food Revolution day is a chance for people to come together to cook and share their kitchen skills, food knowledge and resources.
Did you know: Youngsters who learn to cook before the age of eight are likely to prepare as many as FIVE meals a week from scratch later in life.
This year, Food Revolution Day will take place in kitchens, homes and communities around the world on Friday, 16th of May.
