Miguel Maestre is a Spanish chef also known as the crazy bull. You may know him from Channel 10's The Living Room or as the new Australian Mushroom ambassador.
We caught up with him recently at an Australian Mushroom event and got to know about some of his favourite foods, preferences and how to make food fun!
What’s an easy way to make food fun?
Colour, DIY and atmosphere! Colour is very important and to make food fun you need to bring theatre to the table!
For example, how could you make a Paella fun? Take like a few lettuce leaves, and maybe some chopped tomato and then just make things and DIY at the table! The atmosphere is also very important and eating together, not by yourself.
What's your favourite snack?
Jamón. If I want a snack, I open the fridge and have a slice of Jamón. It’s the best snack in the world. Delicious.
How can you sneak more vegetables into food?
Add some blended mushies to your minced meat to boost flavour and nutrition. A perfect trick for fussy eaters.
Sweet or spicy?
Chocolate or cheese?
What's your favourite restaurant in Australia?
That’s a big question! It depends how I feel. I love the Golden Century in china town. I love seafood!
Coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil?
Extra virgin olive oil, liquid gold! I use it for everything!
What's your favourite herb?
Ohh, that’s a hard one. I’d say I’ll go for thyme, but it’s really hard to choose one.
