Barbecued Cajun Broccolini with Tahini Dressing

 

I love broccolini! It's one of my favourite vegetables. It's easy to barbeque, goes great in stir-fries and easy to blanch and add to salads. 

This recipe is a winner. Be sure to look for broccolini instead of baby broccoli as they aren't the same thing. Baby broccoli is much woodier and not nearly as nice. 

Broccolini is one of my favourite veggies and produced by Perfection Fresh, who kindly supplied this recipe (which I adapted slightly).

This meal is best served as a side. Serve with barbecued salmon, chicken or beef. Cajun seasoning can be quite spicy, if you like spicy food use 2 tbs in this recipe.

Barbecued Cajun Broccolini

Barbecued Cajun Broccolini with Tahini Dressin

Prep time: 5 minutes | Cooking time: 10 minutes | Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 2 bunches Broccolini®, washed
  • 2 tbs extra olive oil
  • 1-2 tbs Cajun seasoning

Tahini dressing ingredients

  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Juice from 1 lime or half a lemon (about 2 tbsp)
  • 1 glove garlic, crushed
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • Dash of warm water (add until runny)

Method

  1. Drizzle Broccolini® with oil, sprinkle with seasoning, turning to coat.
  2. Preheat the barbecue plate on medium. Add the Broccolini. Barbecue for 4 minutes, turning the Broccolini often until lightly charred.  Then transfer to a tray. Serve with tahini dressing.
